Abstract

Oropouche fever is an emerging zoonotic arboviral disease caused by the Oropouche virus (OROV). This disease has become a serious public health threat in the Americas. In 2024, more than 12,786 confirmed cases were reported in 11 countries, with a notable increase in non-endemic areas, as well as the emergence of severe manifestations, including fatal cases and mother-to-child transmission.<sup>1</sup> Arboviral diseases pose a constant challenge to health systems in the Americas. Among them, Oropouche fever, which historically had been limited to the Amazon basin, experienced unprecedented expansion in 2024, with outbreaks reported in countries such as Cuba, Bolivia, and Peru, where autochthonous transmission had not previously been observed...
