Keywords:
aplasia cutis, skin, congenital, malformationAbstract
Congenital cutaneous aplasia is a condition characterized by congenital absence of skin areas that can occur in any location. It is a rare disease, affecting both the sexes equally and its aetiology is unclear. The disorder is seen most frequently on the scalp. It has a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations, with variable inheritance, sometimes associated to other congenital defects and malformations. The case of a newborn on the second day of life is presented, since it presents an erosive and crusty lesion in the lower left limb from the middle third of the thigh to the dorsum of the foot and the dorsum of the right foot. In this newborn, the diagnosis of congenital aplasia cutis was established by the characteristics of the cutaneous defect. Emphasis was placed on the care and prevention of complications, mainly infectious, in this type of neonates.Downloads
