Impacto de la pandemia de COVID-19 en la educación superior global: Enseñanzas y desafíos para la Educación Médica en las Américas

La pandemia de COVID-19, representó un desafío global sin precedentes para los sistemas educativos, la cual impactó de manera profunda en la Educación Superior y de manera crítica, a la formación médica en la región de las Américas. La transición forzada a la virtualidad evidenció desigualdades estructurales, que afectaron de forma desproporcionada a poblaciones vulnerables, en la Educación Médica, se documentaron interrupciones significativas en rotaciones clínicas y evaluaciones prácticas, aunque de forma paradójica se observaron mejorías en la salud mental estudiantil con el aprendizaje en línea, emergieron tendencias como los modelos híbridos, la simulación virtual y las microcredenciales, aunque persisten desafíos en equidad de acceso y validez de evaluaciones virtuales.
La pandemia catalizó una transformación permanente en la Educación Médica, resaltó la necesidad de modelos híbridos equitativos que integren la innovación tecnológica con principios de inclusión y bienestar estudiantil para construir sistemas educativos más resilientes.
